Common Risk Assessment and Risk Management Framework (CRARMF), second edition

The Framework has been developed for use by all government agencies and community sector services to promote a consistent, collaborative and seamless approach to identifying and responding to family and domestic violence.

It is the second edition, published in 2015, and remains a dynamic operating framework rather than a fixed manual.

1. A common definition and understanding of family and domestic violence
2. A shared commitment to perpetrator accountability
3. Recognition of a response continuum — an understanding that mainstream, statutory and specialist service providers all have an important role in identifying, assessing and responding to family and domestic violence
4. A set of shared principles that underpin the development and implementation of family and domestic violence policies, programs and practice
5. A set of common minimum standards and practice requirements for screening, risk assessment, risk management, information sharing and referral

The Framework builds on a common definition and understanding of family and domestic violence so that all service providers across the system can speak a common language. How family and domestic violence is defined and understood has a profound impact on the way service providers support victims, including children, and how perpetrators are held accountable for their violence.

As part of the System Reform Plan, a Working Party of Government and Non-Government representatives has been meeting to review and update the Common Risk Assessment and Risk Management Framework. Once it is finalised, WorkforceFDV will be rolling out training and resources for family and domestic violence services across Western Australia.
