Specialist workforce

You respond to family and domestic violence as a core part of your role and have specialised FDV knowledge, skills and experience. This may include FDV counsellors, advocates, specialist FDV response workers, Aboriginal family violence services, men’s behaviour change facilitators and other specialist FDV roles.

Response workforce

You respond to family and domestic violence as an explicit part of your role, but it is not the core of your role. This may include police, child protection workers, social workers, GPs, financial counsellors, teachers and early childhood workers.

You have a duty of care for the safety, health and wellbeing of the people you work with, but responding to family and domestic violence is not an explicit part of your role. This may include support workers, pharmacists, sports and recreation workers, bank staff and other mainstream services.

Our objectives

Help the family and domestic violence workforce understand their roles and responsibilities at an individual, organisation and system level.

Build an understanding of the strengths, gaps and opportunities of the workforce and use this to deliver workforce development.

Support capability building through setting standards and facilitating access to high quality training.

Collaborate with other organisations to support implementation and improve ways of working.

    Develop a statewide strategic workforce plan for the whole family and domestic violence workforce.

    Provide workers and organisations with the tools to build capability.

    Collaborate with existing organisations to provide stewardship to the workforce.
