Code of Practice for Specialist Family and Domestic Violence Services for Victim-Survivors in Western Australia

The Code of Practice has ten guiding principles for best practice in service design and delivery for specialist services working with adult and child victim-survivors. It builds the capability of the family and domestic violence sector at the organisational, manager and frontline practitioner levels.

Each principle has a set of standards and indicators that services can use to inform their service delivery and to support continuous quality improvement. Information is also provided on each principle to explain what it means and how it can be applied.

Services may also wish to use the Code of Practice for a range of other activities such as:

• Strategic planning
• Developing policies and procedures
• Organisational change management
• Staff induction, supervision, and reflective practice
• Systemic advocacy for the rights of victim-survivors and the role of specialist services
• Internal and external education, training, and mentoring
