Partners announced for Family and Domestic Violence Workforce Entity

The consortium partners have been announced, to engage, establish and deliver the WA Family and Domestic Violence Workforce Entity. The Centre for Women’s Safety and Wellbeing is the lead partner and is joined by Stopping Family Violence, Council of Aboriginal Services WA, Aboriginal Health Council of WA, Community Skills WA, Care+Justice Group and Curtin School of Allied Health.

The sector has long advocated for this entity and the Family and Domestic Violence Workforce Capability Framework which were key asks from the Family and Domestic Violence Taskforce.

The establishment of this new Entity, the first of its kind in WA, is warmly welcomed and presents an important opportunity to enhance responses to family and domestic violence in our state. A strong, capable and supported workforce sets the foundation for a safe and effective family and domestic violence response system.

This Workforce Entity will help to create a system that keeps victim-survivors safe and holds perpetrators to account, through equipping the workforce with the skills and knowledge to deliver safety-focused, informed and culturally appropriate responses to child and adult victim-survivors, and users of violence.

To support the work of the Entity, the Family and Domestic Violence Workforce Capability Framework has also been released. The Framework recognises that the family and domestic violence workforce must have the right capabilities and capacity to effectively support victim-survivors and people using violence. The framework aims to enhance coordination and consistency across the family and domestic violence workforce by ensuring a shared understanding of the requirements and expectations needed.
