When Consent Is Conditioned: Strengthening Identification and Responses to Sexual Coercion
Friday 18 September 2026 · 9:00am – 4:30pm
About this workshop
This is a full-day, practitioner-focused workshop designed to strengthen understanding and responses to sexual coercion.
Across the day, participants will explore coercive control and current understandings and experiences, deepen their understanding of consent and sexual agency, examine the intersections of sex, gendered violence, reproductive coercion, health impacts and non-fatal strangulation, and consider how social norms, the Man Box and pornography shape experiences of harm.
The workshop includes a guided case study, practical screening insights, and small-group activities focused on recognising and responding to sexual coercion and risk, safely and effectively, by applying a trauma and gendered violence informed care approach. This training offers a grounded, trauma-responsive space for building confidence, clarity, and capability in practice.
